I have always been a big fan of Steve Douglas’s logo design related posts on his company blog, the Logo Factor. I like his writing style and appreciate the boldness with which he approaches various issues that affect the logo design industry in general.
The best post so far has been the most recent one about whether logo review websites are legit. The reason I decided to mention this on our blog here is because several times in the past, we have had clients who call us to discuss their requirements, ask us about why were not listed in so and so logo review website etc. Our standard answer has always been that perhaps we are no so big!
Reading Steven’s post today, I finally understood how these review websites work and what goes on behind the most popular of those.

A question that a lot of clients ask is, how illustrative can a logo be before it becomes difficult to use it effectively.
My answer would: depends on where you intend to use the logo. If you are a traditional company then your most common usage of the logo would be on your corporate stationery, your collateral marketing materials, your shop/building signage and perhaps on packaging and merchandise.

To add some spice to your website and to communicate to your customers and site visitors the fact that you are proactive in terms of branding, you can upgrade your logo to have subtle elements related to either Christmas or the New Year.
