The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) is the largest plastic surgery specialty organization in the world and is composed of board-certified plastic surgeons who perform cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. By promoting and encouraging high standards of training, ethics, physician practice and research in plastic surgery the ASPS is an organization whose membership is highly coveted.
The ASPS medical logo design is a simple iconic logo that is made up of two swooshes that form an incomplete circle. This is to indicate the coming together of skill and professionalism to carry out the various activities related to plastic surgery.
I think the logo is too simple and abstract. Especially since the organization is membership based, the plastic surgeons logo does not do much to inspire any confidence or meaning. I would perhaps have expected a line art of a face or some such icon to relate directly to the plastic surgeons.
