Beijing 2008 Olympic Composite Logo

    

The count down has already begun all the eyes are fixed at one city of the world where the preparations are undergoing the last lap of inspection. The 2008 Beijing Olympics are only months away.

Not only the Olympic committee in China, the corporate giants all over the world are also looking forward to this magnificent event. They are sharpening up their branding strategies and shaping up business game plans accordingly to leverage the huge business potential of those few weeks of the game. Some giants are still hiding their game plans while some others are showing a little bit of their strategies and Coca Cola is one of them. It is however worthwhile to mention that Coca Cola is one of the biggest sponsors in the Beijing Olympic. Capturing the fastest growing Chinese market is the ultimate aim of this soft drink giant and this huge sponsorship is a strategic step toward accomplishing this goal. As such, it wants to revamp its brand image in China and even beyond that.

Just as a matter of fact, here is a brief description of the new Coca Cola logo:
The new Coca cola logo is set on the background of a pair of flying red Chinese kite. Here the kite is like a mirror that reflects China to the outside world. The cloud in the background represents good luck according to Chinese myth and beliefs. This is the way the soft drink giant wanted to convey their good wishes to the country prior to the game. Why a pair of kites? This is to signify the uplifting spirit of the Chinese people on the one hand and importance of teamwork on the other hand for the grand success of the event.

The company has also redesigned the coke bottles for the event and the bottle holds this new composite logo of Coca Cola. A unique brand promotion campaign comprising the new bottle and the logo are slated to take place during the coming months ahead of the show. The entire campaign based on this new logo is expected to prove a success. The new logo will be used in Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand in addition to greater china.

However, launching of this new logo is an extension of its 80 years old tradition of Coca Cola’s Olympic sponsorship. During the history of its association with Olympics, each time Coca cola came up with a special logo focusing on the local culture and art from of each hosting city.
