Photography Logo Design

Ailesaway Photography Logo Design

A wedding photography specialist, this client came to us hoping to get a simple yet elegant logo design that would talk to their upscale target market. Before starting work we took a look at the various galleries of photos this client had taken in the past and understood that this client was not just a photography company but one that considered wedding photography an art form.

We decided to stay away from the regular imagery that most photography companies use. We have been guilty of this too but because the client specifically ask for such imagery. But with this client, we had full creative licence. From the start we decided to focus on typography and the least amount of graphic element that we can get away with.

We played around with many design concepts and finally decided to use the two “A”s from the name as a base and then connect them to form a pseudo-icon. During the revision process we added the little design elements (ornaments) on either side of the icon. The color choice was tricky too since initially the client wanted us to use either red or black both of which, we felt, would not sit well with the target market. After trying 4-5 different color schemes we settled on the magenta kind of shade.

The Many Faces of MTV Logo Design

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

A flexible logo design is now in demand as brands are exposed in different media and events. Businesses need to adapt to different conditions and even ride the wave of the future. Instead of changing your logo design from time to time, why not create a flexible one?

MTV Logo the Classic Example

We know Google logo changes according to holiday or special events. An innovative candidate is Logobama.com with its ability to include our photos on Obama’s logo design.

But nothing beats the flexibility exhibited by the famous MTV logo. Created Created more than 25 years ago by Frank Olinsky and his Manhattan Design team, it is constantly changing according to music genre, holidays, seasons, cultures or graphic trends. In fact, this logo design prides itself for its ability to change.

From the basic black letter “M” and dripping “tv” in small caps to symbolize music television, it has undergone perhaps hundreds of iterations but its fundamentals remain over the years. All redesigns are based on the signs of times and preferences of the youth generation.

Make Your Logo Flexible

Yes, flexibility requires you to be a bit creative and knowledgeable about graphic design software. Before making any wild attempts, play around with basic elements like colors and common Photoshop effects.

Note this logo design is not for everyone. You need to test if your target market is receptive to this idea. A financial logo design, for instance, connotes stability and trust. I bet using different logos to a bunch of financially-distressed individuals will simply not work. Know your market, that is.

Blue Iguana Mexican Restaurant Logo Design

Located in Salem, Oregon, The Blue Iguana is a mexican restaurant and cantina that aims to be different in terms of service and quality. They include a mix of traditional and modern mexican cooking in their menu and the client wanted this reflected in the logo.

The restaurant also offers live music and a bar catering to the local mexican community.

Restaurant Logo Design - Illustrative

Target Market

People of all ages that love mexican food and enjoy the nightlife scene (21 and over for nightclub).

Client Requirement

This was again one of those projects where the client had no ideas except that they wanted to see an iguana in the logo

Final Logo Design Concept

We came up with numerous variations of the iguana but this one captured the client’s heart with the style, the shades and “attitude”. The hat added a little bit of a mexican flavor.

Designing restaurant logos can be tricky if you are unsure of who the customer segment is, what kind of image the restaurant is trying to project and where this restaurant is located.

We did a lot of research into these factors and understood the target market throughly before putting pencil to paper. We also thought about the usuage of the logo - a huge neon sign - and decided to come up with an icon that will look good on a neon sign.

The particular style, called illustrative logo in a broad sense, is really a line art based logo. Line art logos are good for off print usuage such as signs, embroidery etc.

Final Logo Design Concept

We created a stylized illustration of a high performance car to make a high performance logo design. Given a subtle gradient not only shows the blending of color but also conveys a sense of motion and energy. After this we also created matching stationery design for this client.

Event Management Logo Design | Enrich Events

Event Management Logo Design for Enrich Events Company

Located in West London, UK, Enrich Events is a new event management and planning company. The name of the company comes from a play on the client’s name: N. Richardson. They concentrate on creating beautiful private parties: weddings, summer parties, product launches, bar/bat mitzvahs and specialise in top end children’s parties.

Not your average balloons and clowns but different from the norm i.e. we recently organised a 12 year old party who wanted to have a cocktail party…so she got a mocktail party. All children dressed up and served as adults.

They handle the whole event package from initial concept to the execution. Enrich Events is sophisticated, pays particular attention to detail and They actually listen to their clients unlike their competitors. They make sure that the client decides every aspect of their special day…for a fair and honest price.

Target Market

They were looking to attract wealthy, sophisticated people who may not have the time/resources/energy to plan their own events and therefore outsource it to Enrich Events. They were looking to target chic parents who want the very best for their children.

They also want to target individuals who want to Enrich their lives with one of my events. Their clients are predominantly in the London area but they will be looking for a strong identity to take across to the USA within the next few months. Their clients will be choosing the company predominantly online but through leaflets and promotion also once a strong logo has been created.

Client Requirement

The client wanted a logo that was subtle, sophisticated but effective.

Final Logo Design Concept

We came with a number of logo concepts from which the client selected this logo as the final concept. It is very simply, elegant and fit the client’s target market perfectly.
