Elem. School Changes Cougar Mascot
With so many trademark lawsuits filed today, many organizations are now more vigilant and to some extent paranoid against any confusingly similar logo or mascot designs seen both online and offline.

Another case of look-alike logos happened in Stafford, Virginia. According to Fredericksburg.com, the Collegiate Licensing Co. has ordered Conway Elementary School to change its official mascot design because it resembles, almost a mirror image, of Penn State University’s Nittany Lion. Although that lion is not a usually used in the merchandise sold by Penn State, they are still the rightful owner of this trademark.
Perhaps a strong believer of trademark properties, this elementary school willingly obeyed the ordered and unveiled a new mascot named Spike last November. Unlike the former lion mascot that is very fierce and intimidating, Spike is more apt for elementary students.
This cute and very friendly-looking mascot sports a train conductor’s cap and red bandana since Conway is located near the Leeland train station. Moreover, it uses a clever tag line “On Track for Success” to go with this makeover.
