Finally, after two arduous weeks, we have finally managed to complete the move from our old smaller office to a much bigger office and logo design studio. Even though the new office is in the same building, because of our 45 computers and 8 servers, it proved to be quite a challenge.
We have been growing steadily for the past two years and since the introduction of our software development team, our office was bursting at the seams. Our logo designers had to manage with with very limited space and even though we had an open floor plan, this limited space led to decreased productivity.
We started looking around for a bigger office since January 2008 and could not find the right one for many months. We wanted more space but we were keener to get an office that offered us state of the art of facilities including high speed broad band and a gym. Finally we had to convert an existing space into the kind of office we wanted. This refurbishment process went on for a couple months and finally we were ready to make the move.
The move was planned in 2 phases – first we would set up the furniture, cubicles, cabins and pantry. Then we would get our new PCs and Macs and then setup the network. The first part took under a week but the second phase took more than 3 weeks. During this time we applied to AT&T to transfer our phones.
In the final week, after we dismantled our network and our servers, all logo designers started working from home. Projects were running smoothly. However, since AT&T took ages to transfer our phones, we were unreachable for more than a week. Most clients were understanding and were happy to communicate via email and our online logo design studio floor. But a few clients were not happy that they could not pick up the phone and talk to their designer.
Late yesterday night (in the wee hours of the morning), our network went live. All our brand new computers were hooked up and all servers went live. The phones were also live and we opened up our communication channels.
We would like to thank all our clients for being patient during the move and would like to apologize to all potential clients if they tried to call us last week and were greeted by an automated message announcing the office move.
