9 Graphic Design USA Awards To LogoDesignWorks – American logo design company Logo Design Works has been given 9 American Graphic Design Awards for excellence in logo design from the prestigious industry association GDUSA.
Graphic Design USA is one of the nation’s most prominent and recognized graphic design magazines, with a history spanning over decades. Every year, GDUSA gathers a panel of national graphic design experts to judge that year’s design work and give recognition to the deserving.
The magazine has been holding design competitions such as this for over thirty years to identify and celebrate the year’s best graphic designers. Logo Design Works is honored to be given the chance to compete in this year’s competition and even more delighted to have 9 winning logo designs.
Children’s Tomorrow
1 The logos that won recognition represent a wide range of genres. The Children’s Tomorrow Foundation logo, for example, uses an elementary style with an image of a tree, a symbol of growth and strength. Handprints as leaves represent the natural effect that children have upon this foundation—and vice versa. The elementary colors are appropriate for the genre, while the font is simple and readable. This award winning logo design is a good example of a child-like logo design that nonetheless appeals to adults as well.
The Slice Fixer Logo
2 The Slice Fixer is a very different type of logo that also won an award. Because the audience was young adult men, the image is humorous with no feminine frills. The use of a wrench in the place of a golf club is memorable but also illustrative of the company’s purpose of golf instruction. The font used here is very simple, but with many sophisticated details that will appeal to this set. The mix of rounded elements and a blocky style is a good fit with the detailed silhouette that makes up the image.
Hope Thru Housing Logo
3 Hope Thru Housing won an award for its clean, monochromatic feeling. The wavy designs used to create the home image are modern and simple while also creating a sense of movement and change. The color of blue used here is official but also creates a somewhat sympathetic feeling. This logo represents a therapeutic community for substance abuse survivors, who can facilitate their own recoveries by helping the organization rehabilitate properties in their community. This mixture of substance abuse education, community service, and vocational training is well represented by the award winning image.
Woodward Church of Christ
4 Churches and other religious organizations use logo design to further their cause just like most other organizations. The logo design of the Woodward Church of Christ is a good example of a modern church logo. Note the absence of obvious religious symbols and instead the use of a tree to show the growth of both members of this church and the congregation as a whole. Green is a natural and energetic color for this church identity, but the use of bright colors in the image gives it a little interest. A very basic font in white adds a business touch. The result is a well rounded logo design that is unique and attractive, a combination that has now won the logo design an award.
4Babies Logo
5 4Babies also won an award for the company’s simple yet relevant logo design. The writing is childlike and fun, in a lower case font with friendly rounded edges, which definitely relates to a baby and child gear store. The image of a child chasing a butterfly implies a sense of innocence and wonder, while the pink color will appeal to expectant moms and their families, who are the main users of the site. This logo is as simple as they come, but highly memorable and relevant to its subject.
Junior Zoo Logo
6 However, there are other ways to treat a logo for a company related to children, as we can see in another one of the award winning logo designs. In the Junior Zoo logo, a rectangular shape gives a traditional feeling and also makes the logo feel like a sign. The writing and the animals are uniformly simple and childlike, while the friendly and light colored palette stands out against a natural green that is reminiscent of nature and growth. This logo does not represent a zoo, but both its name and its logo refer explicitly to one.
Angel of Mercy Logo
7 However, not all of the award winners from Logo Design Works were for industries related to children. Health care is a growing field, and one of the winners related specifically to this burgeoning field. Angel of Mercy offers accessories and gear for professionals who work with seniors. This company needed a logo that would look good in large sizes, such as signs, and in very small formats, such as on a watch face. This logo fits the bill while tying into the name, with an angel image bearing outstretched arms. The upper case letters give an official feeling, as does the almost institutional blue and gray font. However, the use of wavy lines in the wording adds a feeling of movement and flight.
ThinkTank Logo
8 ThinkTank was a greater design challenge but the logo also was an award winner. Because this business is small and well rounded, with a variety of services that can be customized to meet the customer’s needs, a well rounded logo was a must. The resulting logo is specific to ThinkTank’s brand, but general enough to suit the many services and products being offered.
PeaceForward Logo
9 The ninth but not least logo design was PeaceForward, an organization focused on bringing peace to areas of the world troubled by violence and conflict. A clever image of a dove and a human sharing an eye represents the idea that peace has a human face and communicates the feeling that all people should look forward to peace.
These logos are all very different, but they are good representatives of the scope and quality of Logo Design Works’ repertoire.
