Logo Design News

logo designsIt’s not every day that a student is punished for wearing sexy logo designs at school. According to a news article, a junior student at Gateway High School was given 2 days of detention for sporting a sweat pants with Playboy logo on it.

Although cheerleader Elizabeth Johnson believes there is nothing wrong with her outfit and the school is just too melodramatic over this “fuzzy” dress code rules, Gateway remains steadfast about this decision. The school district dare not interfere for dress codes are left to individual school’s discretion.

The teenager was wearing a pair of sweats bearing the bunny icon on the front and the name Playboy in red letters across the back. The dean saw this getup and immediately asked Johnson to change her pants. Although she agreed, her detention is irrevocable.

Apparently, the issue is here is whether wearing “suggestive, offensive or indecent” clothes should be allowed in schools. Given Playboy’s strong connection to pornography, the community is divided on this issue.

On one side, the conservatives surely disapprove such brands for its strong association with sex and the spoiled culture. Conversely, some people insist it’s simply a logo, nothing more. That people must not be criticized for showing their love for a particular logo or brand.

Today, it is very difficult to implement a districtwide dress code policy given the culture and perspectives of individual schools.
