" A Hassle Free Logo Design Process that can save you money as well as head aches!"
On this page we try and describe our Logo Design Process in full. We have taken a case study of one of our clients to explain the Logo Design Process to you. The various steps and features that you see below are not applicable to all projects -- depending on the package you select.
Logo Design Process 1: Before you order
Before you place your order there are a couple of things you need to do to ensure you MAXIMIZE the benefit of our services.
Please be sure to check out our portfolio to understand the scope of our creative skills.
Please understand our package system and select the most appropriate package for you. Our prices page tries and explain in detail what each package offers - the features and the bonuses. If at any time you have a question you can call us on 216 373 0612 and talk to a designer directly who can help make the choice.
Logo Design Process 2: During the order
We accept all major credit cards. We use PROTX, London, as our payment gateway. PROTX is a world class payment processor and your card will be processed on 256 Bit encryption servers.
Purchasing our services is SAFE & SECURE. We also take payments over the phone or via fax.
Once payment is completed you will be taken to our project details questionnaire. This is a very important step of the process. We request you to take your time thinking through the questions and providing us as much information as possible to help us come up with effective concepts and thus get more value for your money.
Once the project questionnaire is submitted, a lead designer is assigned to this project, usually with in a few business hours. Usually it is the same designer that you might have spoken to, if you had called us for clarifications.
The lead designer will then create your account on our "studio floor", a section of our website where you log in to review work in progress, post comments or change requests and interact with your designer.
Logo Design Process 3: After the order
The lead designer will then review your project questionnaire and will give you a call if he/she had any concerns or questions.
The lead designer will then select another designer from the team to work with him/her on the project.
You will have 2 designers working on your project. The lead designer will be the driver and will spear head the creative direction. The lead designer will also set up the first milestone for the project -- initial design concepts due date. You can review the milestone on the studio floor.
Logo Design Process 4: Creative Phase
The concepts we come up with for your company logo are based on the input you provide us during the order and a little bit of research that we do.
We start off by brainstorming a few ideas based on the input we have on our hands. This usually involves both the designers where the lead designer would doodle ideas on paper or the white board. The other designer would also pitch in with any ideas he/she might have.

The next step involves a number of drawings on paper. Almost all our concepts are first drawn on paper. We are still a little old fashioned and we find it highly effective to draw on paper rather than jump right into a software program to create the concepts. We have a lot of experience working with many industries and this experience helps us understand what kind of imagery or icons need to be created to be effective for your target market. We also create concepts based on any specific ideas that you might have.
However we do not encourage requests such as "I have seen a logo that I liked. It belongs to some one else. Can you use that icon and put our company name below it?". We take copyright infringement very seriously.
Once a reasonable number of ideas are put down on paper, the designer would then select the ones with the most potential -- the ones that would appeal to the target market and ones that are in line with the message the client is trying to show through their company logo.
Logo Design Process 5: Construction Phase
We then scan the ideas and start working on them in a vector editing software. We use Adobe Illustrator CS2 for most of our logo design work. Some times we also use CorelDraw 12.
Each idea is then recreated in the software using solid graphic design techniques. More concepts are developed in black and white to start with because we believe that if a logo looks good in black and white then it will be effective in any color.
Normally we create 2-3 concepts more than what is required for the package you purchase. Then after the construction is completed we have a quality control phase where a peer will help weed out in-effective concepts.
These concepts are then presented to you on the studio floor. You get an email informing them of initial concept post. You can log in to review them.

Logo Design Process 6: Concept Selection
You can then select ONE concept to move forward. Some times you can also pick up bits and pieces from different concepts to amalgamate into ONE concept that you would like to proceed with. Please note we can not revise more than ONE concept.
If you are not happy with any of the concepts then you can can cancel the project by telling us why you are not happy with the concepts.
Once a concept is selected and the project moves forward, there is no turning back. Because of the low cost nature of our service we can not work on multiple concepts or go back and forth between concepts because that would require more time and effort on our part.
Logo Design Process 7: Revision Phase
Once you select a concept to go forward we can then work on fine tuning the concept as per your wishes. This could include font changes, color changes or even layout changes.
Each revision round takes around 1 or 2 business days depending on the complexity of the change requested.
The milestone for each round revision is set up by your lead designer and the revisions are posted on the studio floor where you can log in and review them.

Logo Design Process 8: Logo Finalization
After you are happy with the changes and revisions we finalize the logo design and prepare the final files.
The logo is given to you in two formats: vector source files (EPS and AI) and web files.
Vector files (EPS and AI) are the source files of your logo and these are used by your printers, vinyl printers, embroidery company etc for printing your logo. These files also allow you or another graphic designer to make changes to the logo down the line (provided you have vector editing software).
Web files include a GIF (with a transparent background) for use on web pages and a JPG for use in other documents including word, excel, fax sheets etc.
We also create a black and white version of your logo from scratch for use in newspaper ads, yellow page ads, faxes and photocopying (for SILVER and GOLD packages only).
All these files will be zipped (using WinZip) and uploaded to the studio floor from where you can simply download them and save them on to your computer. We recommend you burn these files onto a CD for safe keeping. But you do not have to worry in case you do not have a CD burner -- we will give you the files at any time during the life of the company, in case you lose or corrupt your original files.
Files will NOT be provided on CD. Files are available for download ONLY.

Logo Design Process 9: Stationery Design
If your package permits, after the logo is finalized we then move on to creating your matching stationery design that includes business card, letterhead and envelope design.
Based on your company logo and corporate colors we will create 1 concept each of business card, letterhead and envelope design and present it to you on the studio floor in around 1 or 2 business days.
You can request changes or revisions 2 times before which we have to finalize the stationery design.
Once finalized we will prepare printer ready final files (EPS) with bleeds and crop marks and also give you preview files (PDF).
These final files can also be downloaded from the studio floor.
The files are printer ready which means that you can simply give those files to you printer when you are ready to get them printed.
We also give you the fonts used in the stationery design and editable files so your printer can make any changes if required (for example if your address or phone numbers change) - if you have vector editing software.

Logo Design Process 11: Client Testimonial

As a small firm, with a need to establish a strong brand with national exposure, I knew I needed someone special that could help me with my logo and website design. In the past, I have tried using referrals and have interviewed countless designers through Guru. I can say that my experience with Logo Design Works and Jeff Marsh has been absolutely incredible. On a scale from 1 to 10, I would have to rate them a 15.
From the beginning to the end of each project, I have experienced: an open line of communication, an efficiency in their process (that includes quality control measures), great timeliness in the completion of each project, their knowledge and expertise in branding and marketing my business through Jeffs tremendous insight on the design work itself; I can go on and on.
Everyone I have spoken with regarding my design work on the logo and website has been truly impressed. I have been so pleased that I have even attempted to engage them in projects that are not even part of their business. I know I can be a difficult client at times due of my high expectations; that being said, I do not just hand-out compliments easily. But with Logo Design Works, I can provide a full endorsement with complete confidence, knowing that others are sure to be as pleased as I have been.
I look forward to the next opportunity to work with Jeff and his company.
