Financial Services Logos

What business could be more competitive than finance? If you own a financial services company, the first thing you need to do is look at financial services logos. In this results-oriented business, having a professional logo is one powerful way to show that you can produce the results that customers demand.

Thousands of financial companies are competing for business, many of them with financial services logos. How can you make sure your business logo stands out? By making sure that your logo design has one or all of the following few qualities, which communicate important facts to the customer.

Symbols of strength. As seen in our Top 10 Financial and Banking Logos blog post, Prudential, a global financial company, uses a mountain to show their strength. However, mountains are not the only object that conveys this image. Any kind of triangular shape will work, as these are associated with mountains, pyramids, and other strong, eternal objects. Strength can also be shown with blocky, thick letters and bold colors. People want to know that their financial companies are solid and established, so financial services logos should express this as well.

Symbols of movement. Most people put their money in a bank because they want it to grow. This means that in order to woo the customer, financial services logos must show that the business in question is a constantly moving, constantly changing choice. Wavy designs are one powerful way to do this. Images of birds, oceans, arrows, and other things associated with movement and freedom are another possibility. As seen in our blog, Wachovia uses wave shapes within a solid square to communicate this value.

Symbols of user-friendliness. Many people see financial services companies as yet another problem in their life. Financial services logos that show their company will make lives easier are bound to feel a little more inviting to customers. You can achieve this by using circular shapes in a logo. Even using rounded writing can create this effect. Rounded shapes take the sharpness off of harsh edges and create a more appealing design.

References to money and finances. What could be more relevant to financial services logos than images related to money? One option for financial services logos is to go with the traditional images associates with money, such as images of cash and coins, select U.S. presidents, dollar signs, and credit cards. Another, more subtle choice is to use green colors or metallic hues associated with wealth, such as gold and silver. Merrill Lynch uses a bull, symbol of a growing market, showing that even less familiar references can be successful.

Obviously a logo using all of the above four tips would have a good chance of being busy and unattractive, which is never a good idea. However, financial services logos that use one or two can be very appealing while expressing key ideas to the customer. People tend to be wary about where they put their money; give them good reason to believe in you with a professional logo that communicates exactly what makes your financial services company superior to the rest.
