Please browse through our mascot design portfolio and check out how the process works below.
Call us to discuss your projects. And then watch us create your mascot character. A well designed mascot can substantially enhance your brand. The help to reinforce your brand message and help with brand recall much more easily and fluidly.
Our mascot design process is quite simple and old fashioned. After we have gathered all the required info from you we get to work on the character development in terms of the look and feel. We also conduct a little research to understand how best to create the character (animal, human or humanoid). The attitude of the character is very important to communicate the message effectively.
Once we have decided the style and the look we then draw some sketches on paper. Depending on the package purchased we draw one sketch and show it you. If you are happy with the direction of the initial sketch we then proceed to the next stage. If you do not like the direction then we come back with a second concept.
For this character below, the "Brand" Wizard, we presented the client with a concept (bottom left). The client felt that perhaps the character looked a little "weak" and "poor". They wanted a "richer" and "grand" wizard.

Once you have selected the initial concept, we then proceed with any minor changes that you might request from the initial concept. As you can see below in the first pose the wizard did not have a hat and we added that.

Once you are happy with the changes we proceed with inking the sketch. Usually this is also done on paper but some times, depending on the design style, we might ink the sketch after we have scanned and converted the pencil sketch into a digital format on the computer.

The next stage of the process is to start coloring the character. We use either Adobe Photoshop CS2 or Adobe Illustrator CS2 to color the character. Normally we chose the colors but you can also request for a certain set of colors to be used

We then add the highlights, shadows and other effects that will make your character "pop" out. The final color rendering is quite fantastic as you can see below.

Once the design is finalized, we provide you with EPS or PSD (non-layered) source files (depending on the complexity of the art work), JPG and GIF file formats. EPS are vector files so you can use the character image practically anywhere and for high quality printing too.
You will own 100% copyrights to the final design. Call us to get started today! For some examples of our recent work please visit our mascot design samples section.
