Critiquing a Logo Design Portfolio

The first step in finding the perfect professional graphic artist for your business is to critique their portfolio. This is a very important step as this is where you see what kind of work your graphic design artist is capable of. You should spend a lot of time looking at several different graphic design portfolios when deciding on your artist.

Different artists tend to have different styles. Some artists prefer graphics designed one way and they may even have a consistent theme that runs throughout their work. Every logo they design may have some sort of small trademark that they incorporate into their work somehow. You should study every design in every portfolio. There are a few decisions that you need to make while looking at an artist's work:

  • Do their designs fit my requirement?
  • Do they tend to have the same graphics or figures in each logo?
  • Is every logo unique?
  • Is every logo professional?
  • Are the logos pleasing to the eye or are they "busy"?
  • Will this artist be able to take my ideas and make them reality?
